LAYOUT & DESIGN – As we’re building an ebook together, we’ve reached the point where we both need to start deciding what your ebook will look like. Step 5 in the “Build An Ebook” process is focused on Layout and Design. Simply said, layout and design determines how your ebook looks.

EDIT & REVISE – We’re building an ebook together and it’s time now for Step 4 – Edit and Revise Your Content. Hopefully your writing has gone well and you’re ready now to go back through it all and make some edits. While you’ll edit differently for a personal, family ebook than you would for a brand or business, your basic method will be the same.

CONTENT CREATION – Step 3 in the Build An Ebook system is focused on Content Creation. It’s time to write your content or adapt content you already have to the ebook format. Writing and creating content that people want to read is hard work. Sometimes just getting started is the hardest part. But you can make that process easier if you make good choices before you begin.

OUTLINE & WORKING TITLE – In Step 2 of the Build An Ebook system, you are going to start giving your ebook some structure. Most authors will tell you that the first building block of a book is an outline. So in Step 2 we’re going to create a rough outline and brainstorm a title. Neither of these will be set in concrete. We’re just rough drafting to create some structure.

DECIDE THE PURPOSE – I believe every business needs at least one well-built ebook that can be used to share your story with new or potential customers. I also believe those of you who are seeking to curate family memories need to build your skills to be able to easily create PDFs or print books filled with special stories and photos. These will become family heirlooms. Let’s look at Step One in creating one of those ebooks.
